Warm Up (5 mins)

What kind of person is a "perfectionist"?

Do you think it is a positive or negative personal quality? Why?

Listening (5 mins)

Watch the following video.

The presenter will describe one way to answer the question "What is your biggest weakness?"

1. Why might "being a perfectionist" be considered both a strength AND a weakness?

2. Can you imagine any other ways to answer the question "What is your biggest weakness?"

 Many English words can be given the opposite meaning by adding the prefix "in" or "un" .

 Change the words in the vocabulary list into opposites and use those words to complete the following sentences.

Role Play (15 mins)

Interviewer:I'd like to know more about you as a person. What kind of qualities would you say are your strengths?
Job Candidate:I am a hard worker. I also like to take on new responsibilities. Last year my team leader gave me the responsiblity for planning our annual budget. It was a tough challenge but I achieved the goals on time.
Interviewer:Would you say you are a quick learner? Do you pick up new skills easily?
Job Candidate:Yes. I think I do. I'm also good at studying things independantly without a lot of supervision.
Interviewer:That's good to hear. We are looking for exactly that type of person.
Job Candidate:Thank you.
Interviewer:How do you think your friends would describe you as a person?
Job Candidate:I think they would say that I am a very loyal person. I value loyalty to others.
Interviewer:What kind of weaknesses do you think they might mention?
Job Candidate:They might say I am a bit inflexible at times. Once I have made my plans I like to follow through with all of them.
Interviewer:Thank you very much for those honest answers.

 Try the role play again. This time substitute your own answers.

 Are there any personal qualities that you would like to achieve e.g. become a confident leader, become better organized?  Why?
