CharactersDialogue
Masami:Hi, Barbara. Are you free at the moment?
Barbara:Sure. Can I help you with something?
Masami:As a matter of fact, you can. I have a presentation next week with a group of University graduates and I would like to ask you for some pointers.
Barbara:OK, no problems. Have you thought about the main message of your talk?
Masami:Yes, I want to speak to them about what our company is doing for the community. Our corporate social responsibility goals, in other words.
Barbara:And do you have a list of key points to cover?
Masami:First of all I'll talk about the charities we sponsor, second I'll talk about our human resource diversity programs and finally I'll explain how we are working with other companies to promote social responsibility in the business community.
Barbara:Sounds like you've got it covered. So what's the problem?
Masami:Well I don't want to bore the audience. How can I grab their attention from the beginning?
Barbara:Let's see. Is corporate social responsibility an important issue for you personally?
Masami:It sure is. In fact it's one of the reasons I chose to join this company.
Barbara:Why don't you talk about that. Explain why the issue was important to you when you were a University graduate and why you selected this organization for your career.
Masami:Do you think they'll like that?
Barbara:Of course. Everybody likes to hear stories from the heart about what inspires and motivates them.
Masami:Alright, great. I'll practice and give it a try!
Barbara:Terrific. Good luck!

Imagine your boss asked you to give a presentation about why you joined your company.
