Can I set my own schedule?

Yes. You can work as much or as little as you wish. You determine the times that you are available to teach. Our only requirement is that you are available for 4 lessons per week in "peak" times i.e. weekday evenings 6pm-11pm or weekends 9am-11pm (Japan Time -  JST).

Do I need to create my own lesson plans?

No. Students select the lesson plans we have already made available on the system. You don't need to create any plans or provide anything to students. Our lesson plans are designed to be "plug and play".

Am I qualified to be an instructor?

We are looking for instructors who have TEFL or TESOL qualifications, ideally with some work experience in an actual business environment as well. Our courses and lesson plans are focussed on students who want to learn Business English. You will need to be confident with using online communication tools as all our lessons require you to use webcam and screen sharing technology. The most important requirement is that you have a reliable, energetic and patient attitute toward's students who may be struggling with English.

What are the system requirements?

Everything that you need in order to teach is accessible via a web browser. We recommend Google Chrome as it has some useful browser extensions that will help you deliver the lessons. You can use EigoBiz with either Windows or Mac operating systems. We will provide you with a link to download a light weight and simple web video / screen share software.

In terms of hardware, you will need a headset device, a web camera and a computer, with at least 8GB of RAM. A fixed line internet connection is also necessary to deliver a high quality lesson experience.

Do I need to speak Japanese to be an instructor?

No. Absolutely not. In fact strongly discourage instructors from using any Japanese in the classroom session. However, there may be rare occasions, especially for low level students where a word or two in Japanese could help resolve a problem or misunderstanding.

How do I get started?

Just complete the signup form. If there is a current opportunity for you to teach we will respond to your application by email within 2 business days to arrange a brief interview and orientation.
